Obituary

Stanley Leroy Quash, (affectionately known as Dick) entered into eternal rest peacefully on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at his home. He was ninth of thirteen siblings born in Caroline County, VA to the late Samuel and Deaconess Bessie Olivia Stevens Quash on February 19,1947. He was preceded in death by six brothers, Henry, Robert, Anthony, Charles, Bryan and Sherman Quash; three sisters, Sally, Joan "Doris" and Cynthia "Diane" Quash; four sisters-in-law, Mary "Louise" Quash, Rev. Dr. Louevenia Quash, Valerie Quash and Sylvia Jones; three brothers-in-law, Carlton Anderson, Rev. Robert Burruss, Sr. and Roland Jones; father and mother-in-law, Gordon, Sr. and Mabel Anderson.

He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized under the pastorate of Rev. A.N. Johnson at Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Dawn, Va. He answered God's call to serve faithfully and diligently in the Hospitality, Little Light Society and Trustee ministries. He was a member of the Masons-Welcome Masonic Lodge#125 (Prince Hall).

He was viewed as a mentor, father figure as well as a role model and Christian leader. Stanley was dependable, dedicated and serious about any task and/or role he undertook in life-at home, work and in the church. He loved serving the Lord.

Stanley was educated in the Caroline County Public School system graduating in 1966 from Union High School. Following high school, he attended Virginia Union University. He was employed by Friedman-Marks Clothing Company (Richmond, VA) and Richfood, Inc. (Mechanicsville, VA). For 38 years he was employed at Nabisco (Mondelez International, Inc.) in Richmond VA, until his retirement in 2012. He was an honored member of the Bakery, Confectionery, Tobacco Workers and Grain Millers International Union (BCTGM).

Stanley was united in holy matrimony to the former Connie M. Anderson, whom he lovingly called "Connie Mae", on July 2, 1977. They were blessed with two children, Lisa whom he lovingly called 'My Dear' and Stanley II whom he lovingly called 'Son'. Years later they excitedly welcomed their granddaughter, Sydney. His special nickname for her was "Squirmy".

Stanley was a diehard fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team. His many travels included a visit to the famous AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas. In his home, for many years, he had a designated chair decorated with Cowboys' paraphernalia. The Richmond-Times Dispatch photographed him bravely and proudly wearing his blue cap with the Dallas star logo at a Washington Commanders football training camp in Richmond. Stanley was also an avid fan of the L.A. Dodgers baseball team.

To anyone who truly knew him, he was a man of his word and timeliness. He said what he meant and meant what he said. He loved being around family, where his unforgettable laugh could be heard throughout. He was a much-loved father, brother, uncle, cousin and close friend. He was a dedicated family man with a loving heart. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his illness with courage, strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time with his loved ones as possible. On his final day, he was surrounded by his loving family.

Stanley leaves loving memories with his devoted wife, Connie A. Quash; devoted daughter, Lisa Q. Jones; devoted son, Stanley II; granddaughter, Sydney A.
