Obituary

Stuart Alphonso Coles, Sr. concluded his earthly mission on October 27, 2013 at 10:00 p.m. after a strong and courageous three-year battle with illness. He began his earthly mission on November 24, 1938 as a child of the late Deacon James and Frances Coles. At an early age, Stuart accepted Christ and joined Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Montpelier, Virginia. He attended church regularly until his health failed. Stuart - well-known in the community as Fonsa, Mock-Coles, and Kid-Chocolate - attended Hanover Public Schools while assisting his dad and brothers with farming tasks. He was employed by Dominion Pallet Company as a Machine Operator until his retirement. After retirement, Stuart re-joined the workforce at Goodwill Industries. During his spare time, Stuart enjoyed watching baseball and throwing horseshoes. One sibling, Roberta Lopez, preceded him in death. Stuart leaves cherished memories to: his loving and devoted wife, Katrina; four devoted children, Pastor Rickie Hopkins (Antoinette), Stuart Coles, Jr. (Sheila), Gail Warren, and Tammy Coles; four grandchildren, Stuart III, Ebony, Jonté Warren, and Twasheeka Tyler; one sister, Barbara Houchens (Earl); three brothers, one devoted, Otis Coles, Reverend James Coles (Delois) and Alvin Coles; one sister-in-law, Gloria Dandridge; one brother-in-law, Snead Shelton; one devoted cousin, Arlean Anderson (Warren); two devoted friends, Phillip and Betty Robinson; and a host of nieces; nephews; other cousins; and friends.
