Mrs. Viola Gordon Johnson of Glen Allen, Virginia entered into eternal rest on Monday, June 3, 2019 surrounded by her family. She was born on November 16, 1937 to the late James S. Latney, Sr. and Bertha Clarke Latney. She attended John M. Gandy High School in Hanover County.
Viola accepted Christ at an early age and joined Union Baptist Church in Ashland, Virginia. She became a member of Abner Baptist Church in Glen Allen, Virginia, when she married the love of her life, Artell. She served faithfully as a Sunday School Teacher and Usher until her health began to decline. She worked for many years in the Bakery industry. She began working at Lightfoots Bakery in Ashland. She retired from Ukrops to take care of her husband Artell when he became ill.
Viola was united in holy matrimony to the late Earman Artell Gordon, Sr. on May 21, 1955. After the death of Artell, she found love again when she married Charles H. Johnson, Sr. on August 21, 2004.
Viola was preceded in death by her parents, James and Bertha Latney; first husband, Earman A. Gordon, Sr.; daughter, Regina Y. Gordon; son-in-law, Frank H. Davis; brother, James S. Latney, Jr.; and second husband, Charles H. Johnson, Sr.
She leaves to cherish her memory devoted children; Carolyn Gordon, Antoinette Davis, Earman A. Gordon, Jr. (Eleanor) and Calvin Banks. devoted grandchildren; Auntwan (Demetra), LaTrice (Benjamin), Garrett (Tanadia), Shantae, Mario, Ashley, Eric, Artel, Parrish, Chantell and Chase. Devoted great-grandchildren; Aaron, Christian, Gabrielle, Terrance, Garrett, Tania, Greyson, Beck and Alexandria. Stepchildren; Sheila Ball (Bret), Charles, Jr., Wayne and Bruce Johnson, devoted Janice Boddie (Carl), devoted sisters; Berthel Cullom, Elnora Timberlake, Nell Morris (Clinton) and Elizabeth Anderson. Sisters-in-law; Esther Davis (James), Joyce Gordon, Evelyn Myles and Mamie Nash. Brothers-in-law; Joseph Johnson (Annie Mae) and Walter Johnson, numerous cousins, nieces and nephews and friends, devoted friend, Arlene Derricott, loving Care Team, Ms Annie Carter, Rita Johnson, niece, Sharia Jones, Shelia Roach, Thelma Sisson and Kim Wood, nurse Kim Huynh.
