The angels came down from heaven and summoned Viola Lucille Woody in the early morning hours on Monday, December 25, 2023. Although our hearts are deeply saddened and heavy with grief, we concur that our Heavenly Father makes no mistakes.

Viola was an only child, born in Baltimore, Maryland on February 18, 1933, to the late Raleigh and Lola Fountain.

Viola accepted Christ into her life at an early age and was a faithful member of the Bethany Baptist Church.

Viola was educated in the Hanover County school system and married her school sweetheart, Joseph S. Woody in February 1951. Out of their union, five children were born.

Viola is preceded in death by her son Joseph B. Woody and grandsons Reginald Courtney and Alexander Dimuel, Jr.

To cherish her memories, she leaves her devoted husband Joseph S. Woody of Montpelier, VA; children Cindy (Alex) Dimuel of Henrico, VA, Clyde  Woody of Richmond, VA, Betty Winston of Chesterfield, VA, and Warren Woody of Richmond, VA; grandchildren Joseph D. Woody, Temeka (Lance) Reaves, Andre Woody, Zacchaeus (Alanis) Winston; great grandchildren Lance Reaves, Jr., Larissa Reaves, Kiara Robertson, and Zayden Winston, devoted sister-in-law Annie W. Johnson; devoted brother-in-law Paul W. Woody; devoted cousins Mary Coleman and Sylvia Ellis along with a host of beloved family and friends.
