On Christmas morning, God in His infinite wisdom called Elder Walter N. Lewis, 84, to his heavenly reward.  He was born in Hanover County, Virginia to the late Melvin Lewis, Sr. and Priscilla James Lewis.  He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Laverne Russell Lewis; step-sons, James and Raymond Russell; grandson, De'twon Lewis, two brothers, Arthur and Alphine Lewis, and one sister, Carrie Starling.
Walter was honorably discharged from his service in the United States Army where he served two years.  He began his career as a Heating Technician at Green Oil and retired many years later from Woodfin Oil at the age of 65.
He was later baptized in the name of Jesus in Emporia, Virginia.  Years later, Walter began his new service with the Lord as a Minister of the Gospel in the Apostolic Faith.    His ministry ended as the Pastor of Unity Sanctuary Church of the Lord Jesus Christ.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory three sons, Nathaniel Lewis, Walter L. Lewis (Angela), and Tony A. Lewis; three daughters, Vera Bright (James), Rochelle Coleman, and Stephanie Lewis; two brothers, Melvin Lewis, Jr. (Patricia) and Preston L. Lewis (Patricia); two sisters, Fannie B. Hill and Patricia L. Manley; 14 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
