Warren (Sonny)
Roscoe Baylor, Sr.
September 23, 1937 – August 24, 2019
Warren Roscoe Baylor, Sr., affectionately known as "Sonny" was surrounded by his loving and devoted family as he transitioned from labor to reward on August 24, 2019. Warren Sr. was born in Washington, D.C. on September 23, 1937 to the late William and Florence Baylor.
Sonny received his education in Caroline County Public Schools. He later gained employment at Richfood Distribution from which he later retired after 30 years of service. Warren, Sr. was baptized and attended St. Luke Baptist Church of Lorne, Virginia in his younger years. He later joined Second Mt. Zion Baptist Church where he attended until his health began to decline. Once he was no longer able to attend church physically, he made time every Sunday morning to watch and enjoy television ministries of Rev. Lance Watson of St. Paul's Baptist Church and Rev. Gerald O. Glenn of New Deliverance Ministries.
Warren Sr. was preceded in death by one son, Warren Roscoe Baylor, Jr.; one sister, Barbara L. Johnson; three brothers, Tyrone Baylor, Sr., Welford and Joseph Braxton. He leaves to cherish his memories his loving and devoted wife of 62 years, Geraldine Baylor; three daughters, Carolyn Booker (Curtis), Mary Lynch (Eric), and Pandora Cosby (Leslie); two sons, Kenneth Baylor (Durcellia) and Tracy Baylor, Sr. (Priscilla); 12 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; two sisters, Louise Ferguson and Janette Washington (Edward); one brother, Frederick Theirry (Mindy); two brothers-in-law, Watt Stevens (Delores) and Eugene Rollins; two sisters-in-law, Ruth Braxton and Eva Baylor; one devoted nephew, Marvin Johnson, Sr. and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Sonny was a Jack Of All Trades and he was good at everything he put his mind to. He was known to everyone as a hard worker and a good cook. His hobbies were raising pigs, carpentry, fishing, watching sports, watching "Family Feud" and going to the race track with "the boys" when he was able to. More than anything he loved his family. It brought joy to his heart to watch the great grandchildren run and play in the yard. He will be greatly missed by his family and will always be in our memories and in our hearts.
