Waverly Junious
Dandridge
February 7, 1933 – March 7, 2023
Waverly Dandridge was born in Goochland County on February 7, 1933, to the late Berta and Mitchell Dandridge. He is the youngest of four sisters and two brothers.
Waverly attended Randolph Elementary School and graduated from Central High School. After graduation, he worked in Baltimore, Maryland for five years. He was inducted into the U. S. armed forces where he served his country for two years in the U. S. Army.
After completing his service time, he returned to Goochland and worked at Ligetts and Myers for three years, Albermarle Paper Company for four years, and Kingam Meat Company until they closed. He then he went to work at the ABC Board, where he worked for 24 years, 11 months until his retirement in December 1992.
Waverly was married to the late Martha T. Dandridge for 31 years and from this union three children were born, Jerome, Cynthia, and Anthony. His grandson, Cameron, two nephews and a sister-in-law predeceased him.
Waverly was a kind and compassionate person who was always looking for the good in others and doing whatever he could to help anyone.
Waverly is survived by his children, Waverly Jerome Dandridge (Debra), Cynthia Holmes (Jake), and Anthony Dandridge; siblings, Dorothy Bush (Jimmy), Elsie Turner, Louise Braithwaite, Luther Dandridge (Blanche), Berniss Dandridge (Florence), and Velma Dandridge (Burley); 12 nieces, Gloria Dandridge, Janice Dandridge (Carul), Berta Self (Reginald), Mia Best (James), Iris Burruss, Miranda Lewis, Joy Garner, Dawn Thompson, Ann Thompson, Lisa Wallace, Janice Johnson, and Dawn Mickie; six nephews, Russell Dandridge (Frawn), Glen Dandridge (Hope), Dennis Dandridge (Dawn), Gary Garner (Yasha), Dallas Burruss, and Kevin Lewis; two sisters-in-law, Elsie Burrus, Evelyn Garner (Leon), and one brother-in-law, Ray Thompson.
