Wilbert Earl Mines, affectionately known as Earl, transitioned peacefully to eternal rest on Tuesday, January 21, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Earl was born on December 25, 1943, in Hanover County, Virginia, to the late Margaret and Joel Mines.

Earl received his education in the Hanover County School System and, upon completing high school, answered the call to serve his country by joining the United States Marine Corps.

A lifelong sports enthusiast, Earl was passionate about football. Despite living for many years in Washington, D.C., among devoted Redskins fans, his loyalty remained steadfast to his beloved Dallas Cowboys.

Earl's life was marked by love for his family and cherished moments shared with those close to him. He leaves behind a legacy of warmth and dedication, treasured by all who knew him. His memory will be forever held in the hearts of his son, Darrell, and daughter-in-law, An; three grandchildren, Kayden, Tyson, and Alexie; two sisters, Barbara Mines and Thelma Robb; and two brothers, Mitchell and John Mines.

Earl's family and friends will miss his unwavering spirit and the joy he brought into their lives. As we bid farewell, we celebrate his remarkable journey and find comfort knowing he is at peace.

In lieu of flowers, the family encourages love in his memory through meaningful donations to organizations like the American Cancer Society, or the National Foundation for Cancer Research.
