Obituary

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls" –Matthew 11:28-29

William Glenn Clarke, 52 ("Willie" "Meathead" "Big Unc") of North Chesterfield, VA transitioned from labor to reward on Saturday, October 9, 2021, at his home. It is with profound sorrow that we announce the earthly transition of our loved one. He was born in Hanover, VA on November 10, 1968, to Joyce Clarke Yates.

William was preceded in death by his stepfather: Edward Yates; grandparents: Emmett and Garnett Clarke; six aunts: Geneva Sampson, Myrtle Clarke, Thelma Clarke, Helen Clarke, Mary Clarke, and Ellen Nelson; three uncles Thomas, Chastine, and Garland Clarke.

Willie accepted the Lord as his savior early in life. He took pride in knowing his soul was saved and through Christ he received the greatest gift of all, eternal life. As his health continue to fail, he continues to press on. Willie fought a good fight and was an inspiration to others. God saw the road was getting rough and the hills were hard to climb. So, he closed your weary eyelids and whispered peace be thine.

Willie was full of life and enjoyed it to the fullest. He started working at a young age and never slowed down from that point on. Willie was truly a Jack of All Trades and Master of none. He was a "one man gang." Willie was passionate about his family, friends and helping others to reach their maximum potential. Willie loved a good movie and would spend hours watching movies and listening to music. He loved to tell stories and put his spin on it. Willie's sense of humor was enhanced by his keen sense of detail. He loved being outside, sitting on the porch reminiscing where he felt free and close to God.

This is the way he would want us to remember him forever. Although we lost him, we will always remember him as a loving son, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew, fighter, trash talker and most importantly a "special breed".  It breaks our hearts to lose you, but you didn't go alone, for part of us went with you the day God called you home.

He leaves to cherish his loving memories his devoted mother Joyce Yates; sister: Melanie Clarke (Kiplin); brother: Edward Yates Jr. (Debra); four nephews: Jamel Yates, Demarco Yates, Donovan Clarke, Edward Yates III; four uncles: Winfrey, James (Christine), Walter (Adeline), Benjamin (Patricia) Clarke; one aunt: Georgia Nelson (Harold), many cousins, extended family and friends among them dedicated; Linda Burwick, Nicole Nelson, Tay Clarke, Letoya Nelson, Johnell Nelson, Lisa Hamm and Kimberly Brown.
