Obituary

William Wilson, Jr. departed this life on Monday, March 27, 2023, at Bon Secours St. Mary's Hospital in Richmond, VA.

William (aka, Lil William, Willie, Billy Jr. Geer, Wiggie) was born in Philadelphia, PA on December 8, 1954, to the late Agnes (Jordan) Wilson and William Wilson.

He was educated in the Philadelphia school system until his family migrated to Hanover, Virginia where he finished his schooling at Lee Davis High School. He accepted Christ in his 20's and was baptized at 2nd Mount Zion Baptist Church, Dawn, VA.

William was married to Gwendolyn (Jackson) Wilson for 39 years and from that union their son, Derrick L. Wilson and daughter Karen (Wilson) Henderson was born.

William was affectionately known as Willie and worked as Supervisor in the Mechanic shop at Kings Dominion in Doswell, VA. He retired after 45 years of dedicated service.

William was a hard worker and wonderful provider who took great care of his family and friends. Over the years, he enjoyed watching football and participating in sports such as basketball and bowling. The Raiders was his favorite NFL football team. He was a jokester who loved to make others laugh and was always willing to help out anyone in need. William loved music. Some of his favorite artist included Gladys Knight, Maze and Frankie Beverly, and Kool Moe Dee. You could often hear him blasting the music at the house or in his car.

He leaves to cherish his memories his son Derrick Wilson (Tonia), daughter Karen Henderson (Vincent), ex-wife who he affectionately called his "wife for life", Gwendolyn J. Wilson; four grandchildren Kaylah Henderson, Brianna, Jailyn Wilson and he was preceded in death by his granddaughter Aliyah Henderson; one great grandson Khalil Jordan and a devoted nephew Darren Wilson (Dana).

William also leaves to mourn his loss two siblings, brother Alvin Wilson (Saundra) of Williamstown, NJ and sister Andrea (Vita) Wilson of Norristown, PA; one aunt Dorothy (Dot) Dopson of Philadelphia, PA; best friend Richard (Redboy) Green; devoted friend Allen Jones and a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
