Obituary

William Thomas Winston, affectionately known as Billy, was born in Hanover County, Virginia on February 11, 1948 to the late James and Elnora Winston. He matriculated through the Hanover County public school system. Following school, he joined the U.S Army where he became a hero. William is a Veteran of the Vietnam War where he earned several medals, including Tactical Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal, Good Conduct Medal and last but not least Bronze Star Medal in which he raved about all of the time.


William gave his life over to Christ, at an early age, at the Shiloh Baptist Church in Ashland Va. He loved spending time with his family and friends. He enjoyed watching Old Western Movies, singing, dancing and watching football; He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy fan. Billy was a skilled Masonry for thirty years who poured his heart and soul into his work. If you wanted the job done right Billy was the man to go to. He enjoyed life to fullest until his health started declining.

He leaves to cherish his memories his three daughters, Martina Winston-Johnson (Derrick) April Winston-Henderson, Nicole Winston; five Step Children Terry and Benjamin Harris; Cassandra Williams (Ercell) Gerald Lee (Patricia), Darryl Lee ( Taressa). Seven grandchildren Tiona Winston, Marteisha and Derrick Johnson, Sheron, Keith and William Henderson, Nakhi Carroll, one great grandchild Kaeden Winston, Four Brothers, George Winston(Carolyn),Ronnie Winston, Samuel Winston(Zina), Hayes Winston(Cynthia) one deceased Melvin Winston , Five  Sister's Marian Hunter, Margaret Carey(Leroy) , Geraldin Lindsey(Richard) Jean Holloway(Jerry)  Donna Smith(James) deceased Frances Winston. One Uncle Robert Winston, One Aunt Anna Shelton. William also leaves a host of nieces, nephews, cousins; and many friends.
