Winnie Iola Tillman departed this life and traveled to her eternal home on August 19, 2016, after spending three days at the Doctor's Retreat Hospital.  Winnie entered this life on July 6, 1920, the fourth child of James and Nettie Tillman.  Over the 96 years of her life, she worked as a line worker for Liggett and Myers Tobacco Company, as well as, for the Export Tobacco Company.  She, additionally, worked as a domestic, serving various families at the Meadow Farms.  She always said, "If I had it to do over again, I'd go to high school and make something of myself."  She seemed, however, to let that thought pass after her four children grew up and made their careers.  She loved her family dearly and her idea of the best present was any event where all of her children and grandchildren gathered together with her. Whenever her children asked her what she wanted for her birthday or other occasions, she always said, "I just want your manners and respect."  Winnie was preceded in death by her parents; her lifelong friend, Pierce Nicholson; one brother, Lewis; and three sisters Isabell, Mary and Jenell. She leaves behind one son, Johnie (Sharon); three daughters  Christine, Alma and Carolyn; and three grandchildren Shawn (Michelle), Zipporah and Jarius.  Lastly, she leaves three great grandchildren  Javier, Tyrique and Desiree; two devoted nieces
Nettie Green and Delores Kennedy; two faithful friends Dorothy Toliver and Deloris Stevens, as well as, a host of cousins and other family and friends .
